• While I assure you that you and your dog will learn something during training, animal behaviour is way too complex for a magic fix. (Trainers saying otherwise are unfortunately, full of crap).

Whether your dog is ignoring cues, un-upholstering your sofa, or losing their marbles at people on bikes - the behaviour you see doesn’t exist in a bubble; It has to come from somewhere.

As a trainer my job is to bring clarity to your dogs behaviours, & make the consistency that’s needed for change manageable. Your job is to let me know what is/isn’t working & implement that change in your day-to-day life.

  • Technically, just the time included in your program’s one-on-one sessions.

For things like trick training, structured sessions focused on teaching a specific new thing make sense. Behaviour modification on the other hand is focused on altering things that affect you & your dogs day-to-day activities. It only makes sense that the training needed to change those behaviours becomes part of your life as well.

Apart from Trickstar, all Camp Sidekick programs are designed to help you replace the habits that are fueling unwanted behaviours with habits that will help get you to your goal. Of course adding in a set session or two won’t hurt, but applying the concepts in your day-to-day life is what makes the biggest difference.

  • Lots of treats, lots of toys, lots of games, lots of love, lots of letting dogs just be dogs.

Fear-reliant, compulsion heavy, alpha theory techniques are out (not to mention out-dated). Thoroughly researched, science-backed, tailored-to-you training is in.

Rewards reinforce behaviour, reinforced behaviour is repeated. Everything else falls into place along the way.

  • Use the contact form to let me know which *program you’d like to purchase, along with a brief summary of your pups behaviour. As soon as your booking is confirmed, I’ll set you up with a password so you can access your online course.

The courses are all completely self-paced & don’t involve any quizzes or other submissions. They are purely there for your reference.

All programs (aside from Trickstar & Teen Wolf) include a number of one-on-one training sessions with me (Hi. I’m Alex). These sessions can be booked as in-person (Edmonton area) or virtual.

In order to avoid transaction fees, all purchases are made though e-transfer (Canada) or Paypal (international).

*all first time clients must complete a tier one course

  • IN-PERSON: The first session (tier one) typically takes place in/around your home, bouncing between talking things out & hands-on skills.

The location of all other one-on-one sessions will depend on the program & where you’re at in your training. Parks, fields, trails, dog friendly stores etc. are common options, but if you have something specific in mind that’s cool too!

VIRTUAL: Google Meets is the platform, but the way we structure your one-on-one sessions is totally up to you. Some people prefer to just talk things out, others prefer I demo with my own dogs. You’re also welcome to send in videos for us to go through together during the session. These can be videos of you & your dog practicing the training, or of things you have questions about, but please do not provoke behaviours for the sake of a video.
